Welding Fume Extraction
New Regulations 2019 – Are you compliant?
In February 2019 new Health and Safety Executive (HSE) enforcements came into force with reference to Welding Fume Extraction. The changes will affect all businesses undertaking welding activities by ensuring that appropriate controls are placed to control fumes arising from any welding activities. General ventilation or outdoor welding is no longer acceptable and measures need to be put into place.
To carry out welding services all businesses now need to provide adequate control of welding fumes such as a Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) system. Controls need to be in place irrespective of the duration of any welding activity.
