What is Air Tightness Testing?

Also referred to as Air Pressure or Air Leakage Testing, Air Tightness Testing is a building industry recognised method of testing the measurement of air lost through leakage in a building fabric.

Air leakage is described as any uncontrolled air leaking through gaps etc in the building fabric, unlike mechanical and natural ventilation which is a controlled flow of air from the building.

New government legislation to reduce CO2 emissions now in force puts much greater emphasis on Building Regulations (Part L) for new buildings and insulation quality of the building fabric, thus minimising uncontrolled air leakage and heat loss.
